“Attended Kath’s course on Bread and Butter making yesterday – excellent experience. Having used a bread machine for years and having mixed results with manual baking, Kath was able to describe and show some of the subtleties I had missed. Very much looking forward to returning to manual baking – after I’ve managed to eat everything I brought back with me.Kath’s whole environment was excellent – hoping to go back for a more advanced course in future and might make a few days of it to explore Ironbridge while there.”
“My mother, brother and I had an absolutely wonderful time on your Bread Basics course on Saturday. At every stage of the booking process you were very fast to respond, flexible in dates and booking set up. The pre-joining info sent was very complete and helpful. The day itself exceeded all expectations – you were very engaging to listen to and covered a nice balance, from complexity in the chemistry of bread and flour compositions, to great practical advice on where to source the ingredients. You made bread-baking feel very accessible andgave us all the confidence to tackle new recipes but also have lots of fun doing it. We felt like the course was very tailored to our interests and experience. The whole pace of the day was relaxed, but also we packed loads in and the small group size made it feel very individual and friendly. The personal touches like putting on homemade cake and even sourcing gluten free recipes and dairy free milk were extremely thoughtful. The bread itself was extremely delicious! Finally, in terms of value, the price made this a massive bargain – so much better than any alternative I’ve seen elsewhere. We’d never hesitate to recommend the course and indeed pairing it with a stay in the immaculately kept and provisioned cottages, as a superb weekend away. Thank you so much for everything and we will hope to join you for another course, perhaps a full day this time, in the future.”
“Thank you for another most enjoyable day at your bakery! Both Lucy and I had a lovely time and it was very instructive to learn about the heritage wheats. The loafs we made smell lovely and I can’t wait to try them, and then bake some more.”
“Thank you so much for a truly inspiring day… I haven’t shut up about it… I’m telling everyone I see! It has given me the confidence to just have a go! It was a wonderful experience… I’m blown away by how much you know… all the snippets of information you gave… It’s made me want to know more! “
“Thank you again for a really enjoyable day at your lovely house learning how to make sourdough. Lucy and I learned a lot and I can see that making a good sourdough loaf takes the challenge of bread making to a whole new level! You have given us a good foundation and I will be experimenting to try and perfect my own loaves.”
“Hello Kath – just to say how much i enjoyed the cheese and butter making yesterday and to thank you for all your thoughtful help and preparation. My eyes have been opened to the wonder of turning milk and cream into cheese and butter!”
“Thank you for running the course at Acton Scott recently on enriched & laminated dough.
It was really good and encouraging.
I was really impressed by your enthusiasm and “have a go attitude”.
I bought some fresh yeast last weekend and made a batch of bread. My first with fresh yeast. Your advice on folding the dough in the bowl etc worked really well, and my wife appreciated less mess!!”
“We had (our) onion bread for dinner with cheese tonight and it was genuinely one of the most delicious breads I have ever tasted.”
“(We) REALLY enjoyed our baking day with you today. We both learned a tremendous amount and the icing on the cake was being able to take home our lovely loaves. I have never seen home made loaves that looked so good!”
“I had a wonderful day yesterday, really enjoyed it. Remember the old saying, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks .You did, Kath, I learnt such a lot…Ten out of ten awarded.”
“Lovely evening with talented and inspiring Kath Corfield @vegpatchkitchen making delicious breads and gloriously buttery Shropshire Butter Buns. Came home with breads, buns, recipes and fresh yeast to keep on baking. Even made our own pizza for tea between kneading, proving & baking. Excellent way to spend an inspiring evening in good company.”
“I wanted to say we had a lovely day and you treated us so well with great baking tips and lovely food and cake! I’m still eating my fruit buns which froze well. It was all delicious. The cottage was lovely too and we had a thoroughly good time!”
