Here at Veg Patch Kitchen, in addition to the classes at Ironbridge, we can also offer full day bread making courses in a beautiful 17th century farmhouse kitchen full of character in rural South Shropshire. Based near Clun, the farmhouse sits in an isolated spot where you can absorb the quiet beauty of the Shropshire countryside. You will be welcomed with tea and cake and we will spend an enjoyable, relaxed day teaching you how to cook bread in a domestic kitchen. After your day with us you will feel equipped to have many bread adventures in your own kitchen.
We teach a maximum of five people to make sure that everyone has plenty of individual help and attention.
An example of a day with us is making both a white and wholemeal or spelt dough ready for shaping into loaves or rolls and perhaps an olive oil dough to make focaccia, fougasse or pizza or an enriched dough to make chelsea buns, iced fingers or fruit bread. We try to squeeze as much baking into our day as we can.
We bake the loaves in an electric range cooker and a wood fired Esse companion cooker.
We always make time for a delicious, relaxing lunch in the glass garden room enjoying the beautiful views, as well as plenty of tea and cake breaks and when we wave you off at about 4pm to 4.30pm you will have an armful of bread for you to share with your friends and family. You also take home a booklet of advice and recipes so there is no need to scribble notes during the day.
If you book as a group of family, friends or colleagues we can tailor the day to suit you. So if you fancy learning to make croissants, mediterranean breads or festival breads, then get in touch. We are very flexible and if there is something that you have always wanted to learn about a specific area of bread making then get in touch and we will do our best to arrange a class for you.

The course cost includes all ingredients, refreshments including homemade cake, lunch in the glass room, a booklet about bread making basics and recipes, and all of the bread that you have made during the day to take home with you. We provide aprons and bags and boxes for your breads.
